KATHUA: DD, Atleast eleven people were today rescued by the SDRF and local police in Kathua District, when they struck in flooded Ujh River due to inclement weather conditions in the wake of heavy rainfall from February 27, 2025.
The SDRF received information about them around 5 AM, and immediately a joint rescue operation was launched with the local police.
During the operation, these eleven people were rescued using the JCB machine and shifted to a safer location.
Meanwhile, the Jammu-Pathankot Highway also remained blocked at Sakta Chak area near Ujh River in Kathua, following rainfall, and last night’s road accident.
“The road was operational as a single lane, but later, both the lanes had to be closed because of flash flood water on the road, and heavy traffic,” stated the eyewitnesses.
They said that large numbers of vehicles were struck on the highway.
However, the authorities have started process to remove the damaged vehicle – due to which the traffic has been blocked – from the highway to operationalize the vehicular traffic.DD
