1630 illegal liquor bottles seized in Udhampur

Udhampur,TDD, In a significant operation against illegal liquor trade, the Udhampur Police seized a substantial quantity of illicit liquor and arrested one bootlegger.

A joint operation by the Ramnagar Police Station and the Forensic Science Team (FST) led to the interception of an auto-rickshaw near Ghas Mandi Ramnagar. Upon inspection, 33 boxes containing a total of 1630 bottles (180ml each) of illicit liquor were recovered. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Gorkhu Ram, was arrested on the spot.

A case has been registered under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act at the Ramnagar Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

This seizure is part of the District Police Udhampur’s ongoing efforts to combat social crimes, particularly during the recent Assembly Elections. Since the beginning of the election period, the police have registered 37 cases related to illicit liquor, resulting in the seizure of 640 liters of liquor.TDD
