“Terror and Talks Can’t Coexist: PM Modi Warns Pakistan, Dedicates ‘Operation Sindoor’ to Nation’s Women”

PM rules out talks under terror threat, rejects nuclear blackmail, and signals a firm shift in India’s Pakistan policy

New Delhi, DD, In a hard-hitting national address that signaled a decisive shift in India’s diplomatic and security posture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that “terror and talks cannot go together”, firmly ruling out any dialogue with Pakistan until it ends its support for terrorism.

With recent escalations at the border and the successful execution of ‘Operation Sindoor’, the Prime Minister struck a tone of controlled aggression and unwavering national resolve. He said the operation, aimed at neutralizing terror threats across the Line of Control, is “not over, just halted”, leaving room for further action if provoked.

“We will not be held hostage by the threat of nuclear weapons,” Modi said, denouncing what he termed as “nuclear blackmail”. India, he asserted, will respond to provocation with courage and clarity, not fear.

He reiterated that if talks were to happen in the future, they would focus solely on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and the complete dismantling of terrorist infrastructure — “nothing else, and certainly not under threat.”

The Prime Minister dedicated Operation Sindoor to the “mothers and sisters of the nation”, recognizing the strength and sacrifice of women who stand behind India’s soldiers. “This operation is a tribute to their courage, patience, and blessings,” he added.

On the issue of water sharing, Modi confirmed that the Indus Waters Treaty will remain in abeyance, citing Pakistan’s misuse of India’s goodwill and violation of mutual trust.

“This is an era of peace,” he said, “but the road to peace runs through a tough and principled path.”

The address is being seen as a clear message to both domestic and international observers: India seeks peace, but on its own terms — with dignity, strength, and without compromising national security(DD)
