189 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized in Jammu, Rs 30.46 lakh fine collected

Jammu: DD, In a significant move to combat illegal mining and tighten the noose around violators, Jammu Police in Jammu District has intensified its efforts against those exploiting public resources for personal gain by seizing 189 vehicles and realizing fine upto the tune of Rs 30,46,403/- from violators during the first quarter of 2025 (01.01.2025 to 31.03.2025).

Sharing details, Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Joginder Singh said, “Special drives against illegal mining were conducted throughout the first quarter of 2025 in Jammu District.”

“As a result of these operations, 189 vehicles involved in illegal mining were seized, out of which several vehicles were released upon completing necessary formalities,” SSP Jammu said, adding, “Fines amounting to Rs 30,46,403/- were imposed on violators during this period.”

“Additionally, for vehicles repeatedly involved in illegal mining activities, one FIR was registered, highlighting the stern legal action being taken.”

“Even the process for cancelling the registration of these habitual offender vehicles has also been initiated,” he added.

SSP Jammu said that the goal of these efforts is to safeguard natural resources and curb the activities of the mining mafia, which poses a threat to the environment and public assets.

“This decisive action demonstrates Jammu Police’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the community’s natural resources.”DD
