KATHUA: DD, Two terrorists were killed, and three police personnel including a DySP (SDPO Border) sustained bullet injuries in a day long gunbattle at Safian forests in Panchayat Juthana in Kathua District, this morning.
As per the sources, the intense gunfight occurred when the SOG team of J&K Police came under heavy fire when they challenged the terrorists, who were trying to escape from the forest area.
“The other security forces including Indian Army, paramilitary and local police teams also reached the spot, and they sealed all the entrance and exit routes to the area, ensuring that the terrorists could be neutralized,” said the sources.
In this encounter between security forces and terrorists, they said that two terrorists – whose identity is yet to be established – were killed, and three brave police personnel including a DySP sustained bullet injuries.
The injured were evacuated from the encounter site, and rushed to the hospital. One of them injured police personnel was referred to the GMC Jammu for specialized treatment. Till the filing of the report, the operation was still in progress.DD
