Srinagar, (TDD): Senior National Conference (NC) leader Tanvir Sadiq has assured residents that the government is firmly committed to fulfilling its promise of providing 200 units of free electricity, a key point in its manifesto.
Talking to reporters here, Sadiq said that while the initiative could be rolled out immediately, doing so would require further curtailments, which the government is keen to avoid to ensure equitable power distribution for all.
“The promise is not just words; we are actively working on the modalities. We want to implement it in a way that benefits everyone without disrupting the current power supply. The announcement will be made by March next year,” Sadiq said.
He underlined that the initiative is designed to provide relief to residents, particularly during challenging times marked by rising energy costs. The leader expressed confidence that this measure will improve the standard of living and align with the government’s commitment to welfare and sustainable development.
Responding to speculation about disagreements between Raj Bhavan and the elected government, Sadiq dismissed the rumors. “There is no tussle between the two. We must understand that we are functioning as a Union Territory, and such coordination is integral to our governance structure,” he stated.
With this announcement, the NC government hopes to instill confidence among the people and demonstrate its dedication to delivering on electoral promises while ensuring no compromises on essential services. (TDD)
