RAMGARH: DD,The former Ramgarh border villages in Samba District today held a protest demonstration under the banner of Border Kissan Union, demanding installation of an already sanctioned 50 MVA transformer at Grid Station Laliyana.
“Frequent electricity cuts has disturbed normal life and farming (paddy crops) in the border villages due to the frequent unscheduled power curtailment that needs to be addressed by the Govt,” said Ex-Sarpanch, Mohan Singh Bhatti, said, while leading a protest of Border Kissan Union protest here at the town.

To address the growing power crises, he said that “Laliyana Grid station was running overloaded with 50 MVA’s two transformers to feed twelve receiving stations of more than 200 MVA transformers so one additional transformer of 50 MVA was sanctioned for smooth electric supply after hue and cry of border area.”
The protesting farmers questioned the department concerned as to why not install the already sanctioned 50 MVA transformer for Laliyana grid could station for years.
According to a tender floated by the authorities, he said, the same was supposed to be functional one year back. It is an utter failure of concerned agencies and mis-monitoring of high-ups.
Meanwhile, the protesters also demanded regularisation of the daily wagers. “The daily wagers of PDD, who are the backbone of the department to run the electric supply at the door step of consumers, have gone on strike for their rights. Even the existing departmental staff is less than 50% against sanctioned staff which is the main defensive instrument with responsible employers sitting on official chairs,” said Mohan Singh Bhatti.
“In absence of said functional employees of the department, the farmers during this peak season of paddy are suffering a lot,” he said.
He later submitted a memorandum to the authorities, demanding installation of a transformer. The participants include Gurcharan Singh, Amrik Singh, Rattan Lal, Balbir Singh, Sat pal, Jyoti Choudhary, Balbinder Singh, Sunny Choudhary.
