Leh: DD, An engaging child protection awareness session was organized for children attending the Summer Camp at Himya Village arranged by the Lhagsam Trust, where around 40 children from various schools, along with village members and the Goba, actively participated.
The session was led by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Leh team, including LCPO Stanzin Dolker, PONIC Fariya Rafiq, Supervisor Stanzin Palkit, and the Data Analyst of DCPU. The awareness was thoughtfully curated to connect directly with children and their caregivers.
Legal cum probation officer Stanzin Dolker presented an interactive and child-friendly presentation titled “Safeguarding Childhood: A Guide to Child Safety”, encouraging dialogue around protection rights and personal safety.
Supervisor Stanzin Palkit introduced the children to the Child Helpline 1098, explaining its role and importance in emergencies or unsafe situations, while Protection Officer Non-Institutional Care Fariya Rafiq addressed the gathering of villagers with a briefing on non-institutional care services under Mission Vatsalya, including sponsorship, after-care, foster care, adoption, and the role of Child Care Institutions (CCIs).
The session also featured a documentary screening on Child Helpline and the POCSO Act, followed by an interactive Q&A session, where children enthusiastically participated and shared their own experiences, reflecting increased awareness and openness.DD
