5 KM Red Run organised for HIV/AIDS awareness

JAMMU,TDD, : J&K AIDS Control Society (JKACS), H&ME Department on Saturday organized a five kilometer run for generating awareness on HIV/AIDS and related issues here in Jammu University.
The UT Level Red Run Activity – 2024 was organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu for College and University level students with a special focus on the topic “Youth for HIV/AIDS awareness”. The event was organized as part of the two months long Intensified IEC Campaign launched on 12th August 2024.
The activity started with the flagging off of 2 KMs on road walkathon activity inside the university campus by the Chief Guest Dr. Abdul Rouf Bhat, Project Director, JKACS in presence of Guest of Honour, Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean, Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, Dr. S.P. Sarswat, Nodal Principal, Colleges of Jammu Division, Dr. Manu Bhatnagar, Additional Director /I/c CST, JKACS, Madan Lal, Deputy Director (Finance) and Dr. Monika Wali, M.O. / I/c IEC, JKACS alongwith other officials from the collaborating departments.
The whole event was planned with the support provided by Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu. More than two hundred Students (Members of Red Ribbon Clubs) from different colleges took part in the walkathon. The walkathon was followed by a 5 KMs Red Run Activity on the athletic track under the supervision of technical staff of University of Jammu in which around hundred students including boys and girls from different colleges participated.
The winners of the Red Run were awarded by the Chief Guest alongwith other dignitaries present on the stage. First position was bagged by Parul Sharma in women’s and Raman in men’s category respectively both from university of Jammu. The winners from J&K will participate in the national level running competition to be organized by NACO in the coming months.
Later a felicitation function was held in which mementoes were presented to the dignitaries, nodal officers of the Red Ribbon Clubs and other concerned officials of the participating departments.
Anchoring of the program was done by Lakhshika Jamwal and Yamneesh Thakur students from Sports and Physical Education Department, University of Jammu.TDD
