Srinagar,(DD): In a major coordinated evacuation, around 1,000 Indian students — including nearly 500 from Jammu and Kashmir — are set to return from Mashhad, Iran, on three special Mahan Air flights scheduled for Friday night and Saturday.

Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, confirmed that despite regional airspace restrictions, India has secured special permission for these flights. “Three special flights will be operating to bring back Indian students stranded in Mashhad. Out of 1,000 students, about 500 are from Kashmir,” he said.

The flights are expected to arrive in New Delhi as per the following tentative schedule:

Friday, 11:30 PM IST

Saturday, 10:00 AM IST

Saturday, 4:30 PM IST

Khuehami cautioned that timings may shift due to the special arrangements in place.

To ensure a hassle-free return for the evacuees, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has arranged deluxe AC buses at Delhi Airport. The students will be transported directly to the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar.

Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the J&K Chief Minister, confirmed the travel logistics: “Transport facilities have been arranged at Delhi Airport. All concerned departments have been informed to facilitate the students’ journey back to Srinagar.” (DD)
