Diskit, DD, The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Government Higher Secondary School, Diskit, Nubra, on 15 August 2025. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, IAS, unfurled the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem to mark the occasion.
The celebrations included a vibrant March Past by contingents from Ladakh Police, Government Higher Secondary School Diskit, Government High School Partapur, Government High School Hunder, Government Boys and Girls Middle School Diskit, Lamdon Model School Diskit, and Government Primary School Diskit.
In his address, the SDM highlighted the significance of Independence Day and spoke on the achievements and ongoing developmental initiatives in the Nubra Sub-Division. He noted the medical department’s efforts towards hospital upgradation and lauded the education department for its remarkable performance, Nubra schools secured top positions in the CBSE Class 12 Commerce stream at the UT level and won first place in the UT-level Science Exhibition.
He also commended the Police, Revenue Department, and other executive agencies for their seamless coordination during disasters, and acknowledged the Army, Border Roads Organisation and Air Force for their constant support. Encouraging the students, he urged them to take pride in their participation in events and to continue striving for excellence in their respective fields.
A special trophy and certificates were presented to departmental staff for exemplary service in their fields. The prize distribution ceremony also honored students for outstanding performances, with trophies awarded for excellence in the March Past and various cultural events.
As part of the event, special exhibition stalls were set up by the Agriculture, Handicrafts, and Health Departments, showcasing their work and services to the public.DD
