India facing threats from within not outside: Dr Farooq Abdullah

Elected Govt wearing crown of thorns, trying its best to address peoples’ issues

Jammu,(DD)Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the chief of the National Conference (NC), today voiced serious concerns about the growing internal threats to India’s unity and stability, emphasizing that the challenges the nation faces are not primarily from external adversaries but from within.

Speaking at a press conference in Jammu, he highlighted the need for introspection and unity in addressing these issues, which he believes are undermining the nation’s social and political fabric.

Addressing the current political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Abdullah described the position of the newly elected government as akin to “wearing a crown of thorns.” By this, he referred to the immense pressures and responsibilities the government must bear while striving to resolve the longstanding grievances of the people across the Kashmir Valley and Jammu region. He acknowledged the heightened expectations of the public and the complexities involved in governing a region that has faced decades of political uncertainty, social unrest, and developmental challenges.

Dr. Abdullah also raised a crucial concern about the allocation and utilization of funds meant for developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir. He underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in the handling of public resources, stating that funds earmarked for the development of the region must be thoroughly probed to ensure they are not misused or diverted. According to him, there have been instances where developmental funds have failed to translate into tangible benefits for the people, raising suspicions of corruption and inefficiency in governance.

The veteran politician urged the government to prioritize the welfare of the people and address pressing issues such as unemployment, infrastructure development, and social harmony. He stressed that a collaborative approach involving all stakeholders is essential for restoring trust and ensuring the equitable development of both Kashmir and Jammu.

Dr. Abdullah’s remarks reflect his deep concern for the current state of affairs in the region and his commitment to advocating for transparency, accountability, and effective governance. His call for unity and introspection comes at a time when Jammu and Kashmir is navigating a critical phase in its political and developmental journey.(DD)
