Srinagar,(DD): Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary reiterated the National Conference’s (NC) commitment to the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood while addressing the Republic Day celebrations at Balidan Stambh in Lal Chowk, Srinagar.
Taking the salute of the parade, Choudhary emphasised that the special status granted to J&K was a gift from late Maharaja Hari Singh and said the party would continue its efforts to have it restored.
“It is a moment of immense pride to celebrate Republic Day and to honour the legacy of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution. This day is a reminder of our rights, duties, and the democratic values that unite us,” Choudhary said.
The deputy chief minister praised the resilience of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated the NC’s dedication to safeguarding their rights and aspirations. “Restoring the statehood of J&K is a priority for the National Conference. It is not just about identity but about ensuring the dignity and development of the people,” he stated.
The Republic Day event at Lal Chowk witnessed a good turnout, with citizens and officials participating to celebrate the nation’s democratic spirit. Security was tight, ensuring a smooth and peaceful event amidst the ongoing festivities(DD).
