Srinagar, (DD)– In a significant move to combat the rising narcotics problem, Srinagar Police arrested two drug peddlers and seized contraband substances from their possession.
The arrests took place at a checkpoint established at Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar, by the Police Post Urdu Bazar team. One of the accused, Owais Mushtaq Dar, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla, was apprehended with a substantial quantity of drugs. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
During the investigation, the police tracked a second suspect, Momin Bilal Kanu, from Banday Kocha, Maharaj Gunj, who was also found in possession of a large amount of contraband. Both individuals were arrested, and police are continuing their efforts to dismantle the local drug network.
The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling or other crimes by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112. Authorities reassured the community that the J&K Police will take stringent actions against those involved in illegal activities, including drug trafficking.(DD)
