Army opens fire at suspected infiltrators along LoC in Poonch

Mendhar,(DD)In a late-night operation on January 30, 2025, Indian Army personnel stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district opened fire on suspected infiltrators after detecting unusual movement in the region.

The Army responded swiftly to the threat, targeting the suspected infiltrators in the Bagyaldara area, near the LoC. Initial reports suggest that the individuals were attempting to cross the border, but it remains unclear whether they were armed or affiliated with any militant groups. No casualties have been reported from either side at this stage.

Following the exchange of fire, the Army launched a search operation in the surrounding area to prevent any potential breach of the border. The operation is ongoing, and officials are awaiting further developments and confirmation.

This incident highlights the continued security concerns along the LoC, where the Indian Army regularly faces infiltration attempts from across the border. The region has seen several similar incidents in recent months, as the Army works to prevent unauthorized crossings and maintain control over sensitive border areas.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the details of the operation, and further updates will follow as more information becomes available.(DD)
