Mendhar,(DD): The Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, neutralizing two heavily armed terrorists in an intense overnight operation, officials said on Friday.
The incident occurred in the Khari Karmara sector on Thursday night when alert troops detected suspicious movement along the LoC. Swift action by security forces led to a heavy exchange of fire, resulting in the elimination of the infiltrators.
According to a statement from the Army’s White Knight Corps, the operation lasted through the night, leading to the recovery of weapons and war-like stores from the encounter site. A massive search operation is ongoing to ensure no additional threats remain.
This latest infiltration attempt underscores the heightened security challenges in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, even as the Army maintains a robust counter-infiltration grid to safeguard the region.(DD)
