Jammu, (DD) Border security is not just about weapons, it’s about people’s vigilance,” said BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sukhdev Raj during a special interaction with the media, highlighting the pivotal role of border residents in safeguarding the nation.

Addressing the media, DIG Sukhdev Raj emphasized that the unwavering alertness and cooperation of people living along the border have been instrumental in thwarting enemy infiltration attempts, particularly from Pakistan. “The security of the border is possible not only with weapons but also with the awareness and cooperation of the local people,” he remarked.

He credited the success of several anti-infiltration operations to the proactive involvement of border residents, who promptly report any suspicious activities to the BSF. “The border people are always cautious and immediately inform the BSF about any suspicious activity. This has played a critical role in foiling infiltration bids,” DIG Raj added.

Underscoring the constant threats posed by Pakistan’s conspiracies, he stated, “Had the people of the border not been so alert, many of these conspiracies could have succeeded.”

The DIG’s remarks come at a time when security agencies are on high alert due to increasing cross-border threats. His acknowledgment of the local community’s role highlights the BSF’s strategy of fostering strong civilian-military coordination to strengthen border security.

This synergy between the BSF and the vigilant border population continues to be a crucial line of defense, ensuring that hostile attempts are swiftly detected and neutralized.(DD)
