J&K Police Collaborates with University of Jammu to Promote Awareness on New Criminal Laws

Jammu,DD, In a significant initiative to promote awareness about the new criminal laws, the Jammu Police collaborated with the Boys Hostel, University of Jammu, to organize an interactive session. The event, attended by students from various departments and broaders, aimed to educate them about the latest developments in the criminal justice system in the country with the introduction of new criminal laws.

The session featured a panel of distinguished speakers, including Kartik Shirotiya IPS; Dr. Rajneesh Khajuria, Assistant Professor, The Law School, University of Jammu; Advocate Sugandh Gandotra, High Court of J&K; Dr. Nitan Sharma, Assistant Professor, The Law School, University of Jammu; Advocate Syed Waqar, High Court J&K; and Mr. Shivam, hostel boarder and law student.

The speakers deliberated on various aspects of the new criminal laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). The students actively participated in the discussion, raising queries about the substantive and procedural aspects of the laws and the changes introduced by new reforms.

The collaborative event was conducted under the guidance of DIG Jammu Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP Joginder Singh, Prof. Lalitsen Sharma (Provost, Boys Hostel), Dr. Satyapriya Arya (Warden, Jambu Lochan Boys Hostel), Dr. Nitan Sharma (Resident Warden), and was handled by Shri Ajay Sharma SP South, Jammu.

Ajay Sharma SP South emphasized that the vision behind organizing awareness lectures with hostel students is to target students from interdisciplinary backgrounds and perspectives, enabling them to share the message in their respective disciplines and districts.

The success of the awareness session was made possible by the contributions of SHO Gandhinagar Arun Sharma, Dr. PP Singh, Dr. Kartika Bakshi, Atul Singh Katal, Krishan, Mukesh, and Shivam Jasrotia.

This initiative to reach the universities and its beneficiaries is part of the J&K Police’s efforts to promote awareness about the new criminal laws, which have been implemented to modernize the criminal justice system in Jammu and Kashmir.DD
