Srinagar,(DD): In a major educational milestone for Jammu and Kashmir, Director of Education G.N. Itoo today announced that the Winter Tutorials program has successfully benefited over 33,000 students across 200 educational institutions in the region.

This initiative, designed to ensure continued learning during the harsh winter months, has been hailed as a crucial step in bridging educational gaps in remote and underserved areas.

Speaking at a press conference, Itoo emphasized the significance of the program, which offers supplemental lessons to students during the winter break. “These tutorials not only help students remain engaged with their studies but also mitigate the disruption caused by the seasonal challenges faced by schools in higher-altitude regions,” Itoo said.

The Director further revealed that 60% of the textbooks required for the curriculum have already been distributed across schools, ensuring that students are well-equipped for the academic year ahead. The remaining textbooks are expected to be distributed shortly, with efforts intensifying to reach all corners of the region.

“Alongside providing resources, we are also focusing on staffing schools with qualified teachers, especially in remote areas. This is vital for ensuring that every student receives quality education, regardless of their geographical location,” Itoo added.

The Winter Tutorials program, part of the administration’s broader educational reforms, underscores the government’s commitment to overcoming geographical and seasonal barriers to education. With a special focus on reaching students in areas traditionally affected by inclement weather, the initiative aims to equip the younger generation with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive.

Education officials are also looking ahead, exploring ways to expand the program and integrate technology to further enhance learning opportunities, especially in areas that may still face challenges in accessing traditional schooling methods. Itoo’s statement has generated optimism about the future of education in Jammu and Kashmir, with stakeholders hopeful that such initiatives will continue to empower students and improve overall educational outcomes in the region.(DD)
