Srinagar,(DD): On the solemn occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack, top national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, paid heartfelt tributes to the 40 CRPF personnel who lost their lives in the deadly attack on February 14, 2019.

Prime Minister Modi, in a message on X, emphasized that the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers will always be remembered. “Generations will never forget the sacrifice of our brave heroes who laid down their lives in Pulwama. Their unwavering dedication to the nation continues to inspire us,” he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism. “On behalf of a grateful nation, I pay tribute to our martyrs who lost their lives in the cowardly Pulwama attack. Terrorism is the biggest enemy of humanity, and the entire world is united against it,” he stated. He also underscored the Modi government’s “zero-tolerance” policy toward terrorism, highlighting past surgical and air strikes as proof of India’s firm stance.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed these sentiments, writing on X, “India will never forget the supreme sacrifice of our brave CRPF personnel. We stand with their families and remain resolute in our fight against terrorism.”

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also paid homage, saying, “The courage and selfless commitment of our gallant heroes will continue to inspire generations. Their sacrifice in service of the nation will always be remembered.”

The Pulwama attack, one of the deadliest terror strikes on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, took place on February 14, 2019, when a suicide bomber targeted a CRPF convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, killing 40 soldiers and injuring over 35. The attack led to a strong national response, including the Balakot air strikes, and remains a defining moment in India’s counterterrorism strategy.(DD)
