Diplomat Correspondent

JAMMU, DD, The second day of the three-day workshop on Capacity Building in Innovative Pedagogy for Implementation of NEP 2020 witnessed engaging and insightful sessions focused on multidisciplinary learning, experiential education, and collaborative project-based learning. Organized by the Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) in collaboration with the Skill Incubation Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (SIIEDC), the workshop continues to equip faculty members with modern pedagogical tools aligned with NEP 2020.

The day commenced with an interactive session on Design Your Degree (DYD) – Concept and Implementation, conducted by Dr. Mohd. Saleem Mir. The session highlighted the flexibility of curriculum design, multidisciplinary learning, and skill development in alignment with NEP 2020’s vision. Participants engaged in discussions on student-centric learning approaches, emphasizing holistic and skill-oriented education while fostering innovation to prepare students for the evolving professional landscape.

The second session, Experiential and Project-Based Learning in NEP 2020, was led by Dr. J. S. Purohit, Associate Professor, CIC University of Delhi. This session focused on innovative teaching methodologies, emphasizing practical learning and critical thinking. Discussions revolved around empowering students to develop unique solutions, explore diverse career paths, and embrace entrepreneurship. The importance of mentorship, project trajectory, and inclusivity in classrooms was also highlighted, reinforcing the need for an adaptive and student-centric learning environment.

The final session of the second day featured a Group Activity on Project Designing, facilitated by Prof. Shobha Bagai, Prof. Jyoti Sharma, Dr. J. S. Purohit, and Dr. Saleem Mir. Participants collaborated on a Project Writing Exercise, fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and the practical application of knowledge—key elements of the NEP 2020 framework.

The workshop, inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah on February 20, 2025, is specifically designed for faculty members of the Design Your Degree (DYD) Program.

The initiative aims to equip educators with innovative teaching methodologies that align with NEP 2020 and the DYD program’s goals. By emphasizing experiential learning, interactivity, and hands-on training, the workshop promotes reflection and the practical application of knowledge over traditional theoretical approaches. Participants are exploring the importance of incorporating real-world experiences and practical exercises into their pedagogy, fostering holistic learning and skill development among students.

The workshop continues to provide valuable insights into transforming education through innovation, flexibility, and experiential learning. By empowering educators with modern pedagogical strategies, the initiative aligns with the vision of NEP 2020, ensuring that teaching methodologies evolve to meet the needs of a dynamic and globalized academic landscape.DD
