Leh, (DD): The Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) have strongly opposed the circulation of a document titled “Union Territory of Ladakh Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment (Amendment) Regulation 2025.”
The document, which surfaced on social media, has sparked widespread unrest and confusion among the people of Ladakh, as it appears to address crucial domicile and civil service recruitment policies without prior consultation.
In a formal letter to Shri Nityanand Rai, Chairman of the High Powered Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ladakh leaders have expressed deep concern over the premature release of this notification and questioned its authenticity.
Unresolved Domicile Issue Sparks Outrage
The letter reminds the Ministry that during the last meeting on January 15, the domicile issue remained unresolved, with no final consensus reached. The sudden circulation of an official-looking document has led to concerns that key decisions are being made without consulting Ladakh’s leadership and stakeholders.
“We strongly object to this premature notification, which undermines the spirit of collaborative decision-making and disregards the aspirations of the people of Ladakh,” the letter states
Call for Transparency and Immediate Clarification
Ladakh’s leaders have urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to verify the document’s authenticity and clarify its status to the public. They have also demanded that no official notification be finalized without thorough deliberations and consensus with representatives of the Apex Body and KDA.
The letter calls for transparent and inclusive decision-making and requests that the issue be taken up in the next high-level meeting to ensure that the rights and concerns of Ladakh’s people are duly considered.
With growing public concern, all eyes are now on the Ministry of Home Affairs for a response that could determine the future of Ladakh’s civil service policies.(DD)
