International Women’s Day celebrated at EJM college, Leh

Leh,DD, 7th March 2025, EJM College: International Women’s Day celebrated by Gender Sensitization Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH), EJM College, Leh in collaboration with Fire and Fury Gunners with zeal and enthusiasm. Ms. Shruti Arora, IPS, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The Principal, EJM college, Dr. Sameena Iqbal flagged off the day with her welcome address. Lieutenant K. Nivedita of 129 SATA regiment then shared her journey in becoming an Army officer followed by address by the chief guest, Ms. Shruti Arora, IPS. Both the speakers advised and motivated the students to believe in oneself in pursuing their dreams and encourage and strive to attain independence and autonomy in life.

Elocution and drawing competition was held under the theme “Accelerating Action”
Lt. Colonel Anil Kumar of 129 SATA regiment then felicitated the Chief Guest, the Principal of the college and other guest including Ms. Nilza Wangmo, Nari Shakti Puraskar awardee and founder/owner of Alchi Kitchen and the representatives of Women’s Alliance of Ladakh for their role in women empowerment and development of society in Ladakh.


The Chief Guest and the Principal then felicitated the rank holders of the drawing and elocution competition followed by the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers for their participation in the Republic Day Camp 2025 and mountaineering camp for Mount Everest Expedition. The cadets and volunteers then shared their experiences of camp and encouraged fellow students to associate with NCC and NSS.
The Convenor of GSCASH, EJM College, Assistant Professor Sabah Sharif delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the event.
