NAGROTA,DD : 08 Mar 2025Sainik School Nagrota celebrated the International Women’s Day (IWD) with great enthusiasm and fervour on 08 March 2025, reaffirming its commitment towards fostering gender equality and empowering young girls to excel in leadership roles, especially in the Armed Forces. The event witnessed active participation from 43 girl cadets, lady teachers of Sainik School Nagrota and Chinar Primary School, making it a remarkable and memorable occasion.The celebrations commenced with a brief introduction on the significance of International Women’s Day, setting the tone for the event. This was followed by inspiring speeches delivered by Cadet Nivriti Namya in English and Cadet Rashi Yadav in Hindi, who eloquently highlighted the milestones achieved by women across the globe, the significance of celebrating International Women’s Day, and the future challenges that lie ahead in ensuring gender equality.

Their powerful words instilled a sense of pride and motivation among all present, especially the young girl cadets who aspire to don the uniform and serve the nation as future officers in the Indian Armed Forces.The highlight of the event was an insightful and captivating address by Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal, Sainik School Nagrota, who brought out interesting facts about International Women’s Day including its origin, historical significance, official theme, and the colours representing various aspects of the day. He also elaborated on the global scenario where certain countries declare a public holiday to mark this significant day. In his address, the Principal lauded the spirit, courage, and determination of the girl cadets of Sainik School Nagrota, who he proudly referred to as the torchbearers of this premier institution. Following the Principal’s address, the event transitioned to a Cake Cutting Ceremony, symbolizing the collective celebration of womanhood and the remarkable journey of women across all spheres of life. The Principal, along with the girl cadets and lady teachers, joined in the cake-cutting ceremony, fostering a sense of unity and celebration. This was followed by a group photograph, capturing the essence of the moment and commemorating the spirit of International Women’s Day.The celebration concluded with a High Tea where cadets, lady staff members, and school officials interacted informally, sharing their thoughts and aspirations on the role of women in shaping society and the nation. The event truly reflected the progressive and inclusive culture of Sainik School Nagrota, which takes immense pride in nurturing future leaders among both boys and girls, paving their way to lead the Armed Forces with valour, courage, and pride.
