Kishtwar,DD, On the occasion of International Women’s Day, J&K Police District Kishtwar conducted an awareness program at Furqan Academy School Kishtwar to educate students and the community about newly enacted criminal laws and key aspects of women’s safety.
The session, held under the directions of senior police formations, was led by Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta, along with SHO PS Kishtwar, Insp. Firdous Ahmed, and IC Women Cell, PSI Sakshi Sharma. They provided detailed insights into the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023—India’s newly implemented legal frameworks replacing colonial-era laws.
The discussions covered crucial topics such as E-FIR, Zero FIR, self-protection laws, and fast-track procedures for crimes against women. Officers stressed the importance of timely crime reporting and the role of the updated legal system in ensuring swift justice for victims.
The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, and local civil society representatives. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, raising important queries regarding legal mechanisms for protecting women’s rights and safety.
