Rain, Snow to Continue in J&K Until Saturday; Weather to Improve From Sunday: MeT

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar,(DD): The Meteorological Department has predicted continued rain and snow showers across Jammu and Kashmir until Saturday under the influence of a Western Disturbance, with conditions expected to improve from Sunday onward.

Director MeT, Mukhtar Ahmed, confirmed the forecast, stating that intermittent rain showers on Thursday are likely to subside by evening or night, providing temporary relief. However, another spell is set to begin by late Friday morning or afternoon.

“This second phase of precipitation, spanning from Friday afternoon to Saturday, is expected to be more widespread across the region,” Ahmed said.

He further added that by Sunday, weather conditions would start improving, though some areas may still experience isolated showers.

“Once this system moves out, we are not expecting any major Western Disturbance to impact Jammu and Kashmir for at least the next 7 to 10 days,” Ahmed assured, indicating a prolonged period of stable weather.

The forecast suggests that while short-term disruptions due to rain and snow are likely, an overall improvement in weather conditions is on the horizon.(DD)
