CEC Dr Akhoon attends concluding day of two-day District Level Hamdiya Mushaira organized by LAACL Kargil

Kargil, DD, Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today attended the two-day District Level Hamdiya Mushaira organized by Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (LAACL) Kargil, which concluded at Academy Hall Kargil.

Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon was the chief guest on the occasion, while Padma Shree Awardee Dr Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat was the guest of honour and State Awardee, Ghulam Ahmad Jawan presided over as Sadr-e-Mehfil on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the CEC praised the poets for their role in promoting positive change and spreading meaningful messages in society. He commended the Ladakh Cultural Academy Kargil for organizing such literary events and providing a platform for both budding and experienced scholars and poets to showcase their work.

In response to the demand from the Literary Society of Kargil regarding the sanctioned Ladakh Cultural Centre in Kargil, Dr. Akhoon said that LAHDC Kargil has already allocated 20 kanals of land at Kurbathang. He assured that he would take up the matter with the Hon’ble LG of Ladakh to expedite the commencement of work.

Keeping in view the holy month of Ramzan-e-Karim and Thangpay Chongay, LAHDC Kargil is monitoring the market to ensure the availability of all essential commodities. Appropriate measures are being taken to prevent any shortages during this sacred month.

The CEC further stated that due to unpredictable weather conditions, the snow clearance operation has slowed down. However, he expressed hope that the roads would reopen soon, subject to favorable weather. He also added that LAHDC is making efforts to arrange IL or C-17 flights to airlift stranded passengers from Srinagar and Jammu.

Padma Shree awardee, Dr Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat lauded the Ladakh Cultural Academy Kargil for its consistent efforts in promoting literary activities within the district as well as State and National Levels, thereby nurturing a vibrant cultural landscape.

He praised the academy’s efforts in promoting literature and emphasized the important role of poets in bringing positive change to society.

Each poets a maestro in their own right, including luminaries who recited their poetry adorned the gathering with their evocative verses, transcending linguistic barriers to unite hearts in the spirit of Ramadan e Kareem are Gh. Safdar Ali Safdar (Balti), Bashir Ahmad Wafa (Balti), Aga Raza Razvi (Purgi), Ashraf Ali Sagar (Balti/Urdu, Ataullah Parwaz Shina/Urdu), Nasir-ud-Din Khafi (Purgi/Urdu), Mukhtar Ahmad Zahid (Shina/Urdu, Fida Hussain Wazir Fida (Purgi), Sibte Hassan Kaleem (Balti/Urdu), Mohd Taqi Khan Nayaab (Purgi/Urdu), Ahsaan Ali Bismil (Shina/Urdu, Issa Sabiri (Purgi/Urdu), Mohd Baqir Rafeeq (Purgi/Urdu), Tsewang Gailtsen Garkone (Brokskat/Dard Aryan), Nissar Hussain Trespone (Purgi), Sajad Ali Shujaat (Purgi/Balti), Arif Hussain Ladakhi (Brokskat/Dard Aryan), Zakir Hussain Khan (Shina), Dr. Elyas Kargili (Urdu), Mohd Ali Khan Sabeel, Tsewang Rigzin (Purgi/Ladakhi), Ahmad Hussain Olpa (Purgi) and Gulzar Hussain (Balti).

In his welcome address, Nazir Hussain, Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Cultural Academy, Kargil, underscored the invaluable contribution literary society in shaping the society as well as made a name for Ladakh at the National level in Sathiya Academy.

He extended heartfelt gratitude to the literary fraternity for their unwavering support towards such initiatives, echoing the academy’s commitment to promoting the rich tapestry of Art, Culture, and Languages in the district as well as in the UT.

The event drew a diverse audience, including writers, poets, district officials, prominent citizens, and enthusiastic school children, reflecting the widespread resonance of literary and cultural endeavors within the community.

In the tapestry of our diverse linguistic heritage, events such as these serve as threads, weaving together a mosaic of cultural understanding and harmony, resonating with the timeless essence of Ramadan-e-Kareem.

Concluding the proceedings, noted scholar Ashraf Ali Sagar, facilitated the seamless conduct of the 2nd day of the Multilingual Natiya/ Hamdiya Mehfil-e-Mushaira, while Tsewang Rigzin, extended vote of thanks on behalf of the LAACL Kargil to all participants, media fraternity and supporters, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration and patronage for the fulfilment of the Academy’s aims and objectives.DD
