Kargil, DD: A delegation of parents of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Kargil students, currently stranded in Baramulla, Srinagar, today called on Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon and requested for an additional flight arrangement to facilitate their children’s return to Kargil.
In response, the CEC informed the delegation that efforts are underway to open the Zojila Pass for vehicular traffic before the conclusion of the holy month of Ramazan.
He assured them that the Hill Council would make every possible effort to arrange accommodation for stranded students in IL-76 or C-17 aircraft to ensure their timely return.
Later, the CEC instructed Deputy Commissioner Kargil to provide accommodation for the students at Kargil House Srinagar until suitable travel arrangements are made.DD
