Doda, (DD): MLA Mehraj Malik has raised serious concerns over doctors in Doda district hospitals failing to follow the official dress code, including wearing white coats and nameplates. He called for strict enforcement of professional attire to ensure discipline and better patient care.
Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Malik highlighted the lack of adherence to dress code norms, which he said creates confusion among patients and attendants.
“Doctors should strictly follow the prescribed dress code. Patients and attendants often struggle to differentiate between doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff when no nameplates or white coats are worn. This lack of professionalism affects patient confidence and hampers efficient medical care,” Malik stated.
Patients and attendants at Government Medical College (GMC) Doda and other district hospitals have also raised similar complaints. Abdul Rashid, an attendant, shared his frustration: “It becomes difficult for us to identify who is a doctor and who is a paramedic. A simple nameplate and white coat would make things easier for us.”
Malik urged the Health Department and hospital administration to strictly enforce the dress code regulations and take corrective measures to ensure discipline and professionalism in healthcare facilities across the district.(DD)
