Kishtwar Bus Stand Sees Sweeping Overhaul: Strict New Parking Regulations Implemented

IMRAN SHAH

Kishtwar,DD, In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the flow of vehicles at the busy Bus Stand Kishtwar, the Office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar Tasleem wani has introduced stringent parking regulations. The new order, effective for 15 days, has been implemented following consultations with local transport unions, shopkeepers, and other stakeholders.

Key Provisions of the Order:

Ban on Private Vehicles: Private vehicles are strictly prohibited from parking within the bus stand premises.

Designated Parking Areas: Passenger vehicles and load carriers must park only in their allocated slots as per the approved layout.

Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles: Only one or two heavy vehicles are allowed to park in a specifically demarcated area near the Junga Load Carrier slots.

Mandatory Clearance by Shopkeepers: Wholesalers, fruit and vegetable vendors are required to clear the space in front of their shops before 9:30 AM daily.

Controlled Operations for Mechanics and Spare Parts Dealers: These businesses must conduct their work in designated areas, ensuring they do not obstruct the flow of passenger traffic.

Buses from Jammu: Buses arriving from Jammu must park in a designated area ahead of the Municipal Bathroom to facilitate efficient movement.

Objectives and Expected Impact:
Officials believe the new parking measures will not only enhance traffic management but also improve safety for passengers and local commuters. The order is expected to benefit local businesses by preventing vehicle congestion around shop fronts, thus supporting smoother commercial operations.

Enforcement and Future Review:

The ARTO has made it clear that any violation of the regulations will lead to strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act. Authorities have committed to a thorough review of the order’s effectiveness at the end of the 15-day period, with potential adjustments based on public feedback and stakeholder input.

Residents and stakeholders are urged to adhere to the new guidelines to ensure a smoother and safer environment at one of Kishtwar’s busiest transportation hubs.DD
