Leh, DD, The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Leh, successfully concluded the Swachhata Pakhwada under Mission Vatsalya, which was observed from March 1 to March 15. With the theme “Cleanliness: A Habit, Not an Occasion,” the initiative aimed to instill a culture of hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness among children residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) registered under the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.
Throughout the fortnight, various activities were conducted in all CCIs, focusing on cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation.
The closing ceremony was held at the District Child Protection Unit, Leh, in the presence of CCI superintendents and key officials. As part of the event, essential cleanliness kits were distributed to the CCIs to further support their hygiene and sanitation efforts.
During the ceremony, Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) member, Eshay Tashi, addressed the gathering and emphasized the significance of cleanliness as a daily practice. He highlighted the need to inculcate basic hygiene habits among children to ensure their well-being and overall development.
Program Manager of the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Abdul Rahim, also spoke at the event. He encouraged CCIs to propose innovative methods to enhance the effectiveness of Swachhta Pakhwada in the coming years, stressing the importance of continuous improvement in cleanliness initiatives.
The event saw active participation from the members of DCPU, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), JJB, Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), and Children’s Homes for Learning (CHL). Their collective efforts reinforced the commitment to making cleanliness a fundamental part of daily life for children under institutional care.DD
