Jal Jeevan Mission Making Steady Progress in Samba: 83 Schemes Completed, 54,407 Households Connected

Samba, DD, Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Jammu Kashmir, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, conducted a virtual review of the mission’s implementation in Samba district. The review assessed the progress of various water supply schemes and addressed challenges delaying project completion.

During the meeting, officials reported that out of 130 schemes under execution, 83 have been completed. Additionally, 422 out of 522 civil works, including bore wells, dug wells, tube wells, overhead tanks, filtration plants, reservoirs, and pipeline networks, have been successfully completed. Similarly, 92 out of 130 mechanical schemes have also been finalized.

The district, comprising 382 villages with 79,840 rural households, has so far provided Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to 54,407 households. The MD urged officials to expedite the Har Ghar Certification process, as only 59 out of 131 reported villages have been certified so far.

Focus on Timely Completion
Mr. Shah directed officials to resolve bottlenecks caused by forest clearances, land acquisition, and interdepartmental coordination to ensure smooth execution of pending schemes. He also emphasized enhanced supervision and monitoring to maintain quality and timely completion of projects.

The review meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Department Jammu, district-level Jal Shakti officials, and consultants from both civil and mechanical divisions.
