Srinagar, DD, The Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Jammu & Kashmir, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, convened an internal review meeting at the Mission Directorate to assess the progress of various initiatives under JJM across the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by Consultants, Project Managers, Chief Chemists, Technical Officers, and other officials from the Mission Directorate. During the session, the Mission Director reviewed the status of source sustainability reports, which assess the feasibility and long-term viability of water sources. Officials informed him that while most reports have been submitted, some remain pending due to snow-bound and inaccessible areas in Kashmir and the hilly regions of the Jammu Division. Mr. Shah directed the consultants to complete the remaining reports by the first half of April and instructed them to conduct surveys in areas where prefeasibility reports are still awaited.

A key agenda of the meeting was the progress of Har Ghar Jal certification, which ensures that all households in a village receive safe and adequate drinking water through tap connections. The Mission Director urged Project Managers and District Project Management Units (DPMUs) to expedite the certification of remaining villages.

The meeting also reviewed the targets and achievements in water quality testing. The Executive Engineer of Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance assured the chair that all testing targets would be met soon. Discussions further covered expenditure details, the status of scheme completion, and the number of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) provided across Jammu & Kashmir.

Emphasizing the importance of timely execution of JJM projects, Shah urged all stakeholders to work diligently to ensure sustainable water supply and access to clean drinking water for every household in the Union Territory.DD
