Top JKPCC Leaders to Skip CM Omar’s Emergency Meeting

Karra, Mir Cite Prior Engagements in Delhi Amid Key Political Discussions

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): In a notable development, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra and senior party leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir will not attend the emergency meeting of ruling alliance legislators convened by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today. The two Congress leaders have cited prior commitments in New Delhi as the reason for their absence.

The meeting, called at short notice, is expected to focus on pressing governance and political issues amid ongoing challenges faced by the coalition government. However, the absence of two senior Congress figures has raised speculation about possible differences within the alliance or strategic positioning ahead of future political developments.

While sources within the JKPCC downplayed any rift, their non-participation could impact key discussions on legislative strategy and alliance cohesion. The Congress remains a crucial partner in the ruling coalition, and any signs of discord could have broader political implications.

Observers will be watching closely for any further developments, especially regarding the Congress leadership’s engagement in Delhi and its stance on the matters discussed in today’s meeting.(DD)
