Anti-Terror Operation Chhatroo: Security Forces Vow to Eliminate All Terrorists in Ongoing Kishtwar Encounter

Kishtwar, (DD):An intense anti-terror operation is underway in the Chhatru forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, where security forces have neutralized one terrorist following a fierce gunfight. The joint operation, launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, is still in progress as more terrorists are believed to be trapped in the region.

Deputy Inspector General Shridhar Patil, overseeing the Kishtwar-Doda-Ramban range, confirmed that the mission, which began three days ago, has entered a critical phase. “One terrorist was eliminated this morning. The operation is ongoing, and we won’t stop until all terrorists are neutralized,” he stated.

The encounter began on April 9 after intelligence inputs led to the launch of a coordinated “search and destroy” mission in the dense Chhatru forests, extending into parts of Udhampur district. The Army’s White Knight Corps reported that contact with the terrorists was established late on the first day, leading to a prolonged exchange of fire.

“Despite challenging terrain and adverse weather, our soldiers are carrying out the operation with unmatched determination,” the Corps said in a statement on X.

While security forces maintain tactical secrecy, officials emphasize that the region remains under close surveillance. Reinforcements have been deployed, and the forces are committed to flushing out every terrorist hiding in the area.(DD)
