Leh, DD, The newly constructed Horticulture Development Office and Training Centre at Saspol was inaugurated,marking an important step towards strengthening horticulture infrastructure in the region.
Advocate Tashi Gyalson, Hon’ble CEC, LAHDC Leh, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, along with Hon’ble Executive Councillor for Horticulture, Ghulam Mehdi, and DC/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, as the Guest of Honour.
The programme began with a welcome address by Tsewang Punchok, Director, Horticulture, UT Ladakh.
In his keynote address, EC Ghulam Mehdi highlighted the progress made in the horticulture sector since Ladakh became a Union Territory. He expressed appreciation to CEC Advocate Tashi Gyalson for his continued support and vision in strengthening the department. Emphasising horticulture as a sustainable sector, he said it can offer long-term benefits for local farmers and future generations, especially in times when sectors like tourism may face challenges.
The event featured a vibrant traditional dance performance by students of Government Higher Secondary School, Saspol, adding a cultural touch to the occasion.
Among others, the event was attended by the Director, Horticulture; Chief Horticulture Officer, Leh; SDM Likir; Horticulture Development Officer, Leh; and Horticulture Development Officer, Khaltsi.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Chief Horticulture Officer, Kunzang Wangmo, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and stakeholders for their presence and continued support to the horticulture sector in Ladakh.DD
