SSP KISHTWAR HOLDS INTRODUCTORY PUBLIC MEETING

KISHTWAR, DD, In a proactive step towards strengthening police-public relations, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Sh. Naresh Singh-JKPS, convened an introductory meeting with stakeholders. The meeting was held at the Conference Hall of District Police Headquarters (DPO) Kishtwar and was attended by Addl. SP Kishtwar Sh. Pardeep Singh-JKPS, Addl. SP PC Kishtwar Sh. Nisar Khoja-JKPS, Dy. SP Headquarters Dr. Ishan Gupta-JKP, and other senior officers of District Police Kishtwar.

The meeting was attended by various representatives of different organisations, including members of Sanatan Dharma Sabha, Majlis-e-Shoura Committee, Trade Union, Transport Union, Chemist Association, and other respectable citizens of Kishtwar. The primary objective of the meeting was to create a collaborative framework for dialogue and action on issues of public importance. During the interaction, participants from different organizations raised a host of concerns including drug abuse, illegal sale of liquor, identification and action against miscreants, traffic congestion and awareness programmes for drivers, change in timing for entry of heavy vehicles in Kishtwar town, and various other issues.

SSP Kishtwar gave a patient hearing to all concerns and assured that police-related issues would be resolved on priority, while matters concerning the civil administration would be promptly taken up with the concerned departments. He reiterated the commitment of District Police Kishtwar to ensure peace, public safety, and mutual cooperation.

During the interaction, SSP Kishtwar issued a stern warning to anti-social elements, anti-national elements, and black sheep within society, stating that such individuals will be identified and strict action under law will be taken against all such anti-social and anti-national elements. He also assured that law-abiding citizens of the district shall be duly protected and taken care of. He emphasized that their disruptive narratives will never succeed, as both Hindu and Muslim communities of Kishtwar stand united for peace, brotherhood, and progress of Kishtwar district.

SSP Kishtwar also shared his personal contact details with all the participants and assured that he and his team are available 24×7 for any assistance. He encouraged the public to approach the police without hesitation and assured that every effort will be made to uphold law and order while respecting the dignity of all citizens.

SSP Kishtwar reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to the goals of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, calling for intensified efforts in identifying drug hotspots, conducting counselling sessions for vulnerable youth, and initiating strict legal action against peddlers through PIT-NDPS.

At the end, two minutes of silence was observed by the participants in memory of all civilians massacred in the Pahalgam attack by terrorists on 22-04-2025.

The meeting concluded with a strong and united resolve from both communities to support the police in identifying and isolating disruptive elements, and in working together for a safer, stronger, and drug-free Kishtwar.DD
