Nomadic Woman Dies After Brutal Assault in Srinagar’s Nishat area; Four arrested

Srinagar, (DD) — A nomadic woman from Reasi, temporarily residing in the Nishat area of Srinagar, lost her life after allegedly being brutally assaulted by a group of intoxicated men late Sunday evening.

Officials told the Diplomat digital that the woman was attacked near Water Works Road by four individuals who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol. She sustained serious injuries in the assault and was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

A senior police officer confirmed the arrest of all four accused. “They have been taken into custody and a formal case has been registered. Further investigation is in progress to determine the exact sequence of events,” the officer said.

The incident has shocked the local community, with calls growing for swift justice and stronger protection for vulnerable populations.(DD)
