Amit leads IYC 2025 Wakhathon in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mizoram, DD, Amit Sharma, Secretary to Goverment, Cooperation & ICT Departments, Mizoram led a very special event of Walkathon today morning in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, which was primarily organised as a part of the ongoing celebrations of International Year of Cooperatives, 2025, as declared by United Nations, with the objective of creating awareness amongst the public here about Cooperative Department and its ongoing initiatives.

Alongwith Secretary Cooperation, Amit Sharma, Registrar Cooperative Societies John L.T Sanga, Joint Secretary Cooperation, Chairman Mizoram Apex Cooperative Bank, CEO Mizoram Apex Cooperative Bank, Heads of Apex Cooperative Organisations of Mizoram, Officers of various departments, youth and general public participated in good numbers carrying flags and banners on same.

Amit Sharma, Secretary Cooperation Mizoram, in his keynote address, on the culmination of the Walkathon, addressed the participants wherein he appreciated the role of RCS and his team in collaborating with Apex Cooperative Bodies here in organising such events, which help in enhancing the spirit of Co-operatives and encouraging lot of people to join this movement which is the need of the hour.

Amit impressed upon the District Cooperation Officers to work towards consolidation of existing PACS towards becoming ePACS and diversifying their operations, apart from raising new Cooperative Societies to work towards community welfare and benefitting Mizo community, at-large.

Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma also shared that the broader vision of Ministry of Cooperation is to be realised in ongoing International Year of Cooperatives and he assured that all possible support shall be extended to the public of Mizoram towards replicating best practices of Cooperatives in the state, with constant support flowing from all key agencies like NABARD, NCDC, NDDB, etc

It is worthwhile to mention here that Mizoram Apex Cooperative Bank supported this Walkathon by contributing towards logistics, such as T-Shirts, Juices and publicising it amongst people to ensure its success, which was well appreciated by Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma.

It was also divulged by Registrar Cooperative Societies Mizoram during the Walkathon that more such kinds of events are being planned to be organised in Mizoram in a big way during the ongoing International Year of Cooperatives and he expressed deep gratitude towards Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma for sparing time to join the Walkathon and encourage the participants with his spontaneous well-meaning address to them.DD
