Operation Sindoor Launched Under PM Modi’s Leadership; Defence Sources Praise Precision Strikes

Decisive action under Prime Minister’s guidance has bolstered national morale, say Ministry of Defence officials

New Delhi, (DD): Under the direct leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has launched Operation Sindoor—a calibrated series of air and ground strikes against Pakistan-based terror infrastructure. Defence sources confirmed the operation was carried out in response to last week’s terror attack on Hindu tourists in Pahalgam, targeting the networks responsible for planning and logistics.

A senior official from the Ministry of Defence, speaking on condition of anonymity, said:
“This operation was planned and executed under the Prime Minister’s explicit directives. We struck only the terror support nodes—command-and-control centers, safe houses, and ammunition dumps—minimizing collateral damage while ensuring maximum operational impact.”

In a televised address on Thursday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the armed forces:
“Our brave men and women in uniform have once again demonstrated exceptional courage and precision. Under my government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, we will continue to protect every citizen and uphold our nation’s dignity.”

A DRDO engineer involved in the operation added:
“The use of our indigenous precision-guided munitions, combined with real-time intelligence, was a game changer. It allowed us to neutralize targets inside Pakistan without endangering civilian lives on either side.”

Sources in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said PM Modi personally reviewed reconnaissance imagery and monitored mission updates with top defence officials early Friday morning. A formal statement from the PMO credited the Prime Minister’s vision for a “technologically empowered defence” as instrumental in India’s swift response.

Following the operation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defence Staff held separate press briefings. Singh stated:
“Operation Sindoor showcases our resolve that any aggression against innocent lives will be met with a firm response. The nation stands united behind our forces and our Prime Minister’s leadership.”

Home Minister Amit Shah urged the public to remain calm and united:
“In these testing times, we must stand by our security personnel and heed official advisories. Under PM Modi’s stewardship, India remains resolute and ready.”

As investigations into the terror network continue, officials say further preventive actions are being planned. Border communities in Jammu and Kashmir have been advised to cooperate fully with security forces and local administration.(DD)
