Poonch, DD, Senior Superintendent of Police, District Poonch, Sh. Shafket Hussain (JKPS) today visited the family of Martyr Balvinder Kour W/o Kala Singh R/o Mankote, who tragically lost her life due to cross-border shelling in the area. The SSP was accompanied by SDPO Mendhar, SHO Police Station Mendhar, and In-Charge Police Post Mankote.
During the visit, SSP Shafket Hussain paid heartfelt condolences to the Next of Kin (NOK) of the martyr and expressed deep sorrow over the irreparable loss. He acknowledged the sacrifice of Martyr Balvinder Kour and emphasized that her courage and resilience will always be remembered and honoured by the nation.
SSP assured the bereaved family of all possible assistance from the police department and civil administration. He reiterated that the Police Department stands in solidarity with the family during this time of grief and will ensure that necessary support is extended promptly.
The visit also included an interaction with the local residents of Mankote. SSP Poonch assured the public of enhanced safety and security measures in the border area. He also urged the general public to remain vigilant and immediately report the presence of any unexploded live shells or suspicious objects to the nearest police or security authority. Timely reporting can help prevent further loss of life and enable swift action by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
