5 labourers injured during bridge construction on Jammu-Pathankot highway at Vijaypur

SAMBA, TDD: Four to five labourers sustained multiple injuries, including two seriously, in a mishap during an ongoing construction work of Jammu-Katra-Amritsar Express Way near AIIMS Vijaypur in Samba District.“The labourers were working in the construction of a bridge (Devak) near to the Jammu – Pathankot highway. During the work, the debris fell on the labourers working at the construction site,” said the eyewitnesses.Immediately after the mishap after the labourers came under the debris, the NDRF, civil administration and police teams rushed to the hospital for the evacuation operation. The injured labourers were rescued, and they were shifted to the hospitals.“One of two labourers, who sustained serious injuries, was evacuated and shifted to the AIIMS Vijaypur where his condition is stated to be critical. The operation to rescue the struck labourers is still in progress,” the reports quoting eyewitnesses said. TDD
