Srinagar, May 17(DD)In a major crackdown against anti-national elements and miscreants involved in subversive activities, Srinagar Police has booked 23 terror associates linked with proscribed terror outfits under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). These individuals, identified for their repeated involvement in criminal and disruptive activities, have been lodged in various district jails, including Poonch, Udhampur, and Kot Balwal (Jammu).

According to officials, these individuals were active in fomenting public disorder and aiding terror-linked networks despite having multiple FIRs lodged against them in the past. Formal detention orders were obtained from the District Magistrate Srinagar, based on comprehensive dossiers prepared by the police. The list includes names from key localities such as Batmaloo, Rajbagh, Fatehkadal, Bemina, Harwan, and Khanyar, as well as areas in Budgam district.

Several of them are known by aliases within the underground network and have been previously bailed out, only to resume criminal and anti-national activities.“This action is part of a sustained campaign to dismantle the urban terror infrastructure that threatens peace in Srinagar,” a police spokesperson said. “Despite previous arrests, these individuals continued to act brazenly against the law and public order.”The Jammu and Kashmir Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace in the region and emphasized that any elements disrupting law and order or supporting terrorism will be dealt with firmly under the law. This action reflects the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and signals a determined push to restore and sustain calm across Kashmir Valley (DD)
