Kashmir Chronicles (1986–2023)” Launched in Delhi: Experts Highlight Security Shifts, Call for Authentic Literature on Conflict

Diplomat Correspondent

New Delhi,(DD):An event was organised by the India Policy Foundation at the Constitutional Club of India for the release of the book “Kashmir Chronicles (1986–2023): Neoteric Analysis of Rapidly Changing Landscape” .The event was presided over by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister for Science and Technology, with Brigadier Brijesh Pandey (Retd) as the distinguished guest and keynote speaker.

The author of the book, Dr. Vijay K. Sazawal, had especially flown in from the United States to attend the event. A large gathering of people from Kashmir and the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi attended, reflecting deep interest in the subject and the author’s work.

Dr. Sazawal shared key highlights of his book, which provides a nuanced and in-depth examination of the dramatic transformations in Jammu and Kashmir over a nearly four-decade period. He addressed the international dimensions of the conflict during that time and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir that eventually led to the displacement of Kashmiri Pandits—an issue of enduring national and global concern.

Brig. Brijesh Pandey offered a comprehensive national security perspective, focusing on the period marked by the rise of terrorism in the region. He also shared his analysis of current security trends and proposed strategic measures for the way forward.

In particular, Brig. Pandey underscored the importance of “Operation SINDOOR” as a hallmark of India’s evolving national security paradigm. He described it as a reflection of the dynamic national leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the strong will of the Government, the might and preparedness of the Indian Military, and the prevailing mood among the people—especially from Kashmir. According to him, these are critical times that signify a major shift in India’s security doctrine and approach to the Kashmir issue.

Brig. Pandey further emphasized the pressing need for authentic and comprehensive literature on the Kashmir conflict. He lamented the lack of genuine academic and strategic writing that could populate the metaphorically “deserted libraries” of conflict history, stressing that initiatives like Dr. Sazawal’s book are vital to preserving narratives rooted in truth, experience, and analysis.

The event concluded with an engaging interaction between the author, the dignitaries, and the audience, leaving a deep impression on all attendees regarding the importance of well-documented, balanced, and strategic literature on Kashmir.(DD)
