Woman Dies After Tree Falls Amid Gusty Winds in Tral; Hailstorm Wreaks Havoc Across Kashmir

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): A woman was killed after a tree fell on her during sudden gusty winds in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday evening, as severe weather swept across the Kashmir Valley.

The deceased has been identified as Saleema, a resident of Tral. According to locals, strong winds in the area uprooted trees and disrupted normal life. Saleema was caught in the open when a large tree collapsed, leading to fatal injuries.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident and urged residents to exercise caution during ongoing adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, several parts of Kashmir witnessed intense hailstorms and gusty winds, resulting in damage to orchards, power lines, and property. The unseasonal weather has caused concern among farmers, particularly in South and Central Kashmir, where fruit-bearing trees sustained damage.

The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rain and thunderstorms in the coming days and advised people to stay indoors during extreme weather events(DD)
