India to Hold Major Mock Drills Along Pakistan Border in Four States, UT Amid Heightened Tensions

New Delhi, (DD) In a significant security move, India is set to conduct large-scale mock drills tomorrow across four key border states—Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab—and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The drills will take place in districts directly adjoining Pakistan, signaling increased preparedness amid rising cross-border tensions.

According to official sources, the exercise aims to test the operational readiness of security forces and local administrations in responding to potential threats and emergency situations along the volatile border regions.

This development comes just weeks after India reportedly initiated ‘Operation Sindoor’, a strategic response following escalated hostilities and alleged cross-border infiltration attempts. While the details of the operation remain largely classified, defence analysts believe it marks a shift in India’s defensive posture to a more proactive stance.

Local authorities have been instructed to ensure public awareness and cooperation during the drills. Civil defence teams, district disaster response units, and military personnel are expected to participate in the coordinated exercise.

Security experts see this as a clear message of deterrence and vigilance. “Given the geopolitical sensitivities, these drills are both a strategic necessity and a show of preparedness,” said a senior defence analyst.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defence have not issued official statements on the exact scope of the drills but emphasized they are part of routine preparedness measures.

Residents in the border areas have been advised not to panic and to follow all instructions issued by local authorities during the course of the drill.

This comes at a time when both regional and global attention is focused on the subcontinent, with diplomatic and security implications(DD)
