Two Terrorist Aides Nabbed in Shopian, Cache of Arms Seized

Shopian, (DD):In a significant breakthrough against militant networks in South Kashmir, security forces apprehended two suspected terrorist associates during a joint operation in the Imamsahib area of Shopian district on Thursday.

According to official sources, the joint team—comprising personnel from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF—launched a coordinated operation based on specific intelligence inputs about the movement of individuals providing support to active terrorists in the region.

The two suspects were taken into custody without incident, and a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession. The seized materials are believed to have been intended for use in future militant activities or for aiding militants currently operating in the Valley.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were involved in providing logistical support, including shelter, transportation, and communication assistance, to active terrorists in the region.

A senior official confirmed, “The duo had been under surveillance for some time due to their suspicious movements and contacts with known militant operatives. Their arrest marks a step forward in disrupting the support network that enables terrorism to sustain itself in the region.”

The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of their network and possible connections with terrorist organizations operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

This development comes amid heightened security measures in the region ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra and other significant events. Officials have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on any form of terror support infrastructure(DD)
