Cloudburst hits Kulgam village, leaves woman dead

A woman died after a cloudburst hit the Damhal Hanjipora area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on late Wednesday evening.

Kulgam, (DD): A woman died after a cloudburst hit the Damhal Hanjipora area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on late Wednesday evening.

An official said that the cloudburst hit Nunkhull DK Marg, a far-flung area, and soon after, a rescue operation was launched.

“The woman died after she was swept away by the flash floods triggered by the cloudburst. Police and civil administration are on the job,” he said.

The deceased was identified as Jamela Akhter, wife of Munwar Badhwa, a 28-year-old nomadic woman and resident of Mohar Reasi (at present) Nunkhull, D.K. Marg.

“A team has been deputed to the area more details will be available after ground assessment,” the official added(DD)
