Background:

Gurez Valley, located in the high-altitude region of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, is a popular summer destination known for its scenic beauty and strategic location near the Line of Control (LoC). However, given its sensitive border proximity, the area occasionally witnesses restrictions in the interest of public safety and national security.

In recent weeks, heightened security measures and operational necessities in the region have prompted authorities to restrict civilian movement. The temporary closure aims to prevent any inconvenience or potential risks to tourists amidst ongoing developments.

The police have assured that regular updates will be provided as the situation evolves, and have appealed to the public for cooperation and patience.(DD)
