Heatwave Persists Across J&K; Srinagar at 32.4°C, Jammu Sizzles at 43.6°C

Jammu (DD): The ongoing heatwave continues to grip Jammu and Kashmir, with most areas recording significantly above-normal temperatures and no immediate relief in sight.

According to data compiled by Kashmir Weather, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 32.4°C on Friday — 4.4°C above the seasonal average.

In south Kashmir, Qazigund registered 32.8°C, which is 6.1°C above normal, while Pahalgam recorded 28.2°C. Kokernag remained the hottest location in the Valley, hitting 33.2°C, a whopping 7°C above the norm.

Kupwara touched 31.9°C, exceeding the normal by 3.7°C, while Gulmarg, the popular hill resort, recorded 23.0°C, which is 4.2°C above average.

In the Jammu region, the intense heat wave persisted, with Jammu city recording a scorching 43.6°C, 4.8°C above the normal. Katra followed with 39.5°C, while Batote, Bhaderwah, and Banihal recorded 31.6°C, 30.8°C, and 31.8°C respectively — all significantly above their usual ranges.

In the Union Territory of Ladakh, Leh recorded a maximum of 27.0°C, 3.5°C above normal, while data from Kargil remained unavailable(DD)
